Sidley’s energy transactional practice includes representing clients in a broad range of M&A, capital markets, project development, project finance and syndicated, structured and master limited partnership (MLP) financing transactions. Our energy litigation practice includes representation of energy industry clients in all types of federal and state litigation and arbitration proceedings. Sidley’s energy regulatory practice includes matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and state regulatory commissions, as well as the U.S. Departments of Energy, Transportation and State.

Our group’s experience also extends to handling enforcement cases and anti-manipulation issues under FERC and other applicable regulations, and representing clients acquiring or releasing natural gas transportation and storage services; precedent agreements; structuring asset management agreements under FERC Order 712; securing FERC approval for corporate reorganizations or acquisitions under the Federal Power Act section 203; PUHCA; handling complaint proceedings under FPA 206; and representing shippers in rate cases under the Natural Gas Act.

In February 2012, we opened our Houston office with senior lawyers who have many years of experience practicing in Houston and who represent companies and financial institutions engaged in all aspects of the energy industry. These lawyers enhance Sidley’s already substantial practices and experience serving energy clients and financial institutions.
