U.S. Is In, Emissions Are Out – Unpacking U.S. Climate Targets and the Paris Agreement After the White House Climate Summit

April 27, 2021

VIEW WEBINAR RECORDING

The U.S. is back in the Paris Climate Agreement and set to unveil a new “nationally determined contribution” (NDC) of emission reduction targets ahead of an April 22 White House Leaders Summit on Climate. President Biden scheduled the Summit to renew the U.S. role as a global leader on climate and prompt other world leaders to take more aggressive climate action. The NDC and any additional climate commitments coming out of the Summit are expected to provide a foundation for the administration’s climate regulatory agenda. Members of Sidley’s Climate Group will provide an overview of the Summit, a comprehensive breakdown of the NDC, and thoughtful analysis of how it may drive the administration’s “whole-of-government” approach to climate. The panel will also discuss what role, if any, Congress will play and potential implications for private-sector climate initiatives, including Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), among other areas.
